Resume Paper
What type of paper do you use, or that you think is best to print resumes on? Do employers really care, or are they just more interested in what is on the paper? What is your opinion?

You can find out this and more from the Career Services office and more. They will also take a look at your resume and suggest improvements. Fortunately, they are still open now and can help you by contacting them at the address or phone number below.

As for me, I like to print my resumes on either linen paper or parchment paper because I think it looks more professional than plain white paper.

TB Skin Test
I just spoke with someone at the MCPSS Human Resources Department regarding the TB Skin Test required for applying for a Certified position. I told them I had taken it before, and they told me if I had substituted since then, which I had for my TED's days, then I wouldn't have to worry about getting another and they would just pull it from my substitute file. Hopefully, this will be helpful to you so you won't have to go through the trouble of taking another TB skin test.

Commencement Exercise
Dr. Glenn Sebastian addressed the USA Fall Commencement on December 8th. You may click here for the announcement and information on Dr. Sabastian.

To quote an article in the Press Register:

In his commencement speech, retired USA earth sciences professor Glenn Sebastian said the growth of the 44-year-old university has been "phenomenal" and congratulated students on receiving their diplomas.

"It is a document of honor, of privilege and power," Sebastian said. "But it also indicates an enormous responsibility on your part."

Sebastian encouraged graduates to fight pollution, violence, illiteracy and homelessness in the community.

"You received much at the University of South Alabama," Sebastian said. "Now you must go forward and make the world a better place."

So for me, having this community will hopefully be a small part of making the world a better place.

One of the people Sebastion quoted in his speech was Dr. Seuss from the last story Dr. Seuss wrote and published before his death named Oh, The Places You'll Go.

Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So...get on your way!

I loved that Dr. Sebastian made this quote in his speech, how inspiring these few words are. I hope this will inspire you as well.

Welcome
Thank you for stopping by to visit. It is my hope that by being a member of this community you will be able to be helped with a problem you may be experiencing in the classroom, or perhaps you may be able to help and give information to someone who may be struggling.

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.
-- Dr. Seuss

So, come in and read and who knows where you will go.
